A technique for producing ideas

James Webb Young

New York: McGraw-Hill, c2003

ISBN: 978-0071410946
LCC: BF441.Y6 2003
Puts forward the notion that new ideas are the offspring of combinations of old ideas. To that end, Young suggests: filling your head with any and every piece of knowledge you can; reflecting upon this gathered knowledge, seeking relationships between them; sleeping on it; having a “eureka” moment; and refining that sudden inspiration into a genuinely useful idea. It is an extremely short book; read it on your way to work. Read it again on your way home. Then read it again a week later. Highly recommended.

  1. Just to reiterate: this is an excellent book. It should be read by anyone working in marketing, advertising, design, and/or the fine arts.

Actually, it should be read by anyone who fancies themselves a “creative” person.
